Repair Terms

Last updated: 28 July 2026

Please read the following before sending us your memory modules. If anything is unclear, get in touch and we will walk you through it.

1. Repair risk and liability

BGA rework involves inherent risks. While we take the utmost care, there is a small possibility of additional damage during the repair process. By submitting modules for repair, you acknowledge this risk.

We do not guarantee data recovery. Memory modules are volatile storage, and the goal of the repair is to restore normal operation of the module.

Success rates vary by damage type. Chip-level faults have a high success rate, while severely damaged PCBs may have lower chances. We give you an honest assessment after diagnosis so you can make an informed decision.

2. Diagnostic and shipping fees

The diagnostic fee covers the work of identifying the fault. It therefore applies regardless of whether you proceed with the repair, and regardless of whether the repair succeeds. After you review the diagnostic results, you are free to decide whether to go ahead — there is no obligation to repair.

Repair cost is made up of labor and parts. The amounts in our price table are labor only. The unit price of each replacement component is calculated separately and itemized on your quote.

Round-trip shipping is normally your responsibility. For domestic (Korea) returns, however, we cover the return shipping when your diagnostic fee plus repair labor (parts excluded) totals ₩100,000 or more, excluding VAT. International return shipping is your responsibility regardless of the amount and is quoted per destination.

Payment is made after the repair is complete and the result is confirmed; modules ship back once payment is received. For payments made in Korea, every amount is documented with a tax invoice or cash receipt.

For international shipments, any customs duties and import taxes charged in the destination country are your responsibility.

Current diagnostic and per-fault repair prices are listed in the pricing section of our homepage.

3. Modules that cannot be repaired

If, after a full diagnosis, we determine that a module cannot be repaired, or a repair attempt is unsuccessful, we do not charge for the repair itself — neither labor nor parts. The diagnostic fee for the inspection already performed still applies. The module is returned to you.

For customer-specified repairs performed without a full diagnosis, no diagnostic fee applies; however, because the charge covers carrying out the specified work itself, the repair labor is billed regardless of the final outcome.

Note that traces of the diagnostic and repair attempt may remain on the module.

A module you approved for donor use is returned with those components removed (see section 5 below).

If you prefer, we can also offer to purchase the module from you for parts.

4. Cosmetic changes from the work

Rework can leave flux residue, slight discoloration, or heat marks on the PCB. We clean every module after the work, but we cannot guarantee a factory-new cosmetic finish. These marks are cosmetic — every module is fully tested before it is returned.

Depending on where the fault is, we may need to peel off and re-apply the module's label sticker. We take care to preserve it, but stickers do not always return to their original state — creasing, lifting, or partial tearing can occur. If label condition matters to you (warranty or asset tracking), please mention it when you contact us.

5. Donor modules

When a module is found to be non-repairable, we may recover working components from it to repair your other modules. If donor use is needed, we itemize it on the quote or notify you separately, and proceed only after your confirmation. A module used as a donor is returned with those components removed — we do not restore it.

Donor use lets us source discontinued components and improves the odds of repairing your remaining modules. You can decline at any time, in which case the module is returned with its components intact.

6. 90-day warranty

Every repair includes a 90-day warranty from the date of delivery. If the same symptom recurs within the warranty period, we repair it again free of charge.

The warranty covers the specific repair performed. Pre-existing issues and unrelated new problems are not covered.

Failures caused by physical damage, modification, or improper handling or storage are not covered.

These terms may be revised without prior notice. When they change, the last-updated date above is revised accordingly. For questions, contact repair@resolderworks.com.
